This is really the key, isn’t it? Just because I might have a picture of myself on the internet, or an open blog or even (dare I say it) an open Facebook account (I don’t), doesn’t give anyone the right to treat me poorly, badly, violently.

This is the shame about western culture these days. That is really a sweeping statement, I know, but it seems more of Western culture grabs ahold of this than not. That if a female (I don’t put ‘woman’ on purpose – many of those treated/attacked in this way are girls) goes about her life in a way that is slightly more public, she “deserves” to be treated this way. Why? Why does the rest of the population “get” to attack her verbally, physically, emotionally, mentally because she might have a photograph of herself on the web, because she might in a way you don’t like. Even if she dresses provocatively – that still doesn’t mean that one “gets” to attack her.

It’s not only men though – women attack other women verbally, emotionally….

Does the wider we not have a conscience anymore? Do we not care about each other – have we ever? Do we just see and know more because we’re one big multicultural neighbourhood these days?
